Knights of the Southern Cross
Queensland and Australia

The Order of the Knights of the Southern Cross in Queensland is an organisation of Catholic laymen who operate with the support of the
Australian Bishops. We are the only Catholic Men’s organisation in Australia sanctioned and authorised by the Holy See.
It is an autonomous Branch of a national fraternal organisation that operates in each Australian State.
The Order is guided by the Catholic faith and the cardinal and chivalrous virtues of:
- Prudence,
- Faith,
- Justice,
- Fortitude and,
- Temperance in all its charitable works.

It strives to serve the wider community and support those in need.

The Order of the Knights of the Southern Cross carries out a wide variety of works which vary from State to State. Our Catholic faith is the foundation of the Order. The Order promotes the vocations, provides financial support for seminarians and assists with the implementation of projects in the local parishes. Within the wider community, the Order supports and assists the aged, infirmed and the youth through financial and non-financial means.

The Order is a foundation member of the International Alliance of Catholic Knights (IACK); a non-governmental organisation officially recognised by the Vatican in accordance with the Code of Canon Law. Through IACK, the Order works with other Catholic men organisations to support the work of the Church in the wider community.

On 22 July 2008, the Order was granted Special Consultative Status by the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations Organization. Through this status, the Order provides an Australian perspective on matters presented at the United Nations Organization.
